The last thing that catches your attention before taking the elevator to the 29th floor of hotel Viceroy in New York is a tiny sign saying, “This is it”. Stepping out on the roof terrace, we couldn’t agree more. “The Roof” has all the ingredients a really nice rooftop should have; trendy guests, awesome shrimp tacos, cool art photography signed Dalton Portella and views over Central Park.

WHAT TO WEAR: Why not match Manhattan’s skyline with statement silhouettes and art deco inspired prints. 

You'll find an unrivalled rooftop in Istanbul atop Soho House's latest venue in the city. Chic, trendy and with views of the Golden Horn flowing through one of the most vibrant cities in the world – this is definitely the most fashionable place to hang out in Istanbul.

Berns Hotel Cocktail Club (or BHCC to the it-crowd) is Stockholm's most secluded rooftop. Enjoy music by Frederick Stjärne and guests every Friday throughout the summer. Make sure to order the garlic green beans with fried oyster mushrooms before you kick back and relax in the couches. Dress code: sunglasses.

The iconic rooftop bar and pool at Hotel Fasano in Rio de Janeiro is a true favourite amongst fashionistas and supermodels such as Gisele Bündchen, Alessandra Ambrosio and Kate Moss. The marble infinity pool overlooks Ipanema Beach. The vibe? Laid-back elegance for those who want to see and be seen. Order at least one ginger-infused watermelon juice.
