Leopards may not be the fastest in the animal kingdom – that honour falls to the cheetah – but they can content themselves with the news that they’re the most fashionable. The big cat that famously doesn't change its spots has seen the pattern of its camouflage become the print of choice over the past five years.

This season is no exception, with leopard spots appearing on everything from puffa jackets and gladiator skirts at Balmain to patchwork coats as part of a print-and-texture party at Givenchy, and as 1940's oversized shapes from Céline. This, of course, is only this season’s offering. Leopard has become an animal-print classic, a neutral – imagine that! – in our wardrobes that we can match, or mismatch, with anything. A little leopard print can add a growl to any girl’s look – making it a perfect partner for denim – so it’s safe to say the king of the style jungle remains undisputed.
