Trine Kjær started her blog Trine’s Wardrobe in 2008, and since then the Danish style icon has expended her brand: she is the founder of her own beauty lines Trine’s Wardrobe Hair Care and Trine’s Wardrobe Skin Care, works as a stylist and has several collabs with Scandinavian brands on her resume. Even though her style has evolved over the years, the foundation remains the same: a cool mix where glam meets casual, menswear meets femininity.
For this session with photographer Adam Katz Sinding in Copenhagen, Trine Kjær chose her favourites from H&M collections, mixing them with personal pieces from her own wardrobe. The result is classic Trine: a soft pastel wool jacket worn together with raw denim, a glam faux fur matched with sneakers and jeans.
DESCRIBE YOUR SIGNATURE STYLE?
”A mix of feminine and masculine. I love contrasts, so if I was to wear a dress I’d pair it with sneakers and a chunky knit, or denim with stilettos. I love menswear in general – especially combined with more feminine materials.”
WHO IS YOUR FAVOURITE DESIGNER?
”Right now, I believe that J.W. Anderson is the most exciting designer – I love what he does in his own name and his take on Loewe. Furthermore I’ll always be a fan of Phoebe Philo for Céline, she just gets how a modern woman wants to look.”
WHO IS YOUR STYLE ICON?
”A mix of Patti Smith, Chloë Sevigny and [actress/model] Marine Vacth.”
WHERE IS YOUR FAVOURITE PLACE ON EARTH?
”I actually just love Copenhagen and right now I wouldn’t want to live anywhere else, but for vacation my favourites are Sicily and Paris.”
WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE FOOD?
”I love all kinds of food, and I spend a lot of time in the kitchen. My favourite meals are when you get a lot of small plates to share, and you sit around the table for hours, eating and drinking wine. I love to taste a lot of different things.”
WHAT IS YOUR GO-TO LOOK?
”Vintage Levi's 501s, a silk shirt and sneakers or stilettos depending on the situation.”
IF YOU COULD GO BACK IN HISTORY, WHAT FASHION ERA WOULD YOU LIKE TO LIVE IN?
”The 70s, it was such a fun and creative era with no rules at all.”
WHAT ITEM WOULD YOU NEVER PART FROM?
”I’ll keep my three Chanel bags forever. I’ve bought all of them as presents to myself, and they reflect different parts of my life.”
WHAT DID YOU WANT TO BE WHEN YOU WERE A CHILD?
”An astronaut. I love space, planets and stars.”
WHAT IS YOUR GUILTY FASHION PLEASURE?
”Coats. I love coats and jackets and I have got way too many of them in my wardrobe. But it’s pretty cold most of the year in Copenhagen so coats are super important.”
WHO WOULD YOU LIKE TO MEET?
WHAT DO YOU NEED RIGHT NOW?
”I've just finished the renovation of the apartment I bought last year, so my mind is all set on decorating it. Right now I especially need a new rug for my living room and a vintage Poul Kjærholm’s PK22 chair in cognac-coloured leather.”
WHAT IS YOUR LATEST BEAUTY DISCOVERY?
”I’m obsessed with the eye roll-on from my own beauty line Trine’s Wardrobe Care. It cools the area around the eyes and makes any puffiness and dark circles disappear.”
