H&M supports earthquake victims in Haiti

In response to the devastating earthquake on 12 January in Haiti, H&M has donated USD 100,000 to support UNICEF’s relief efforts. Several sales markets where H&M operates are also launching their own support efforts.

UNICEF’s first priority is to ensure that children, who comprise almost half of the country’s population of 10 million, get essential help as soon as possible.

“The most important supplies we are sending in now are family kits, [which] have cooking equipment and everything a family needs,” said Mr. Bernt Aasen, UNICEF Regional Director for Latin America and the Caribbean. “Then we will need to send in medical supplies, and UNICEF has standard medical kits that have all the medicines we know are needed in this situation.”

H&M has collaborated with UNICEF since 2004, and contributed to the organisation’s catastrophe relief work several times.
