Camp Cali Girls: Meet Khadijha

Model Khadijha Red Thunder reminds us that we are one with nature.
9 June 2017

”My perfect summer day starts at 7am. I make a smoothie with some chia seeds in it, I get a little notebook and a pen, and then I go to the beach. Or to any high hill. And then I just sit there by myself in the sun, writing, drawing. Being one with the world.”

”I grew up hiking mountains, camping, chasing waterfalls… Nature has always been a major part of my life. People tend to feel so lost and alone, when you go into nature, that’s when you realise that you are not alone. All things are nature, we are nature, the things we build are nature.”

”My last name is Red Thunder because I am Native American. It is a very powerful name. It was actually supposed to be White Thunder, but they mistook my great-grandfather’s name when he came across the Canadian border. I have been dancing at pow wows all my life. I have a huge family, and I grew up very close to my grandmother. She is full blood Native American and grew up on farmland, like in a tipi. That was so awesome.”

When you go into nature, that’s when you realise that you are not alone.

”My summer go-tos are airy, flowy sheer things. I love the colour white and all blue hues. It is so pretty when you match the summer sky.”
