Are you ready to find your new look for the new season? The best place to start is by taking some inspiration from the runway: here’s our run-down of the hottest trends of Spring 2016.

THE COLD SHOULDER GETS HOT
Following on from last year’s infatuation with the folksy off-the-shoulder look, everyone from sophisticated, luxe fashion houses to cool highstreet brands have gone strap-free and oh-so chic, focusing all attention on bare shoulders.
THE LATIN INFLUENCE
It’s fun, feminine and flirty, this season calls for embracing a little Latin flavour in the form of ruffles, peasant sleeves and flamenco skirts, spicing up any piece.
The new shoe shape is backless and flat, like your favourite comfortable slippers. But the flat mule of 2016 is a lot more stylish than a house shoe. On the runway, they came in slick white leather, or as a grown-up mule perfect for evening cocktail attire.
It’s never been a better time for streetwear on the runway, with every FROW insider rocking a pair of trainers during fashion week. So it’s no surprise that the humble hoodie is one of the season’s most buzzed-about items, the cosy staple of every cool teenager’s wardrobe.
HALF MOON BAG
It’s the new bucket bag: the half-moon shape hanging on a long shoulder strap. It could be roomy, or else sweet and small in pastel colours. Either way, this is the shape of the future.
Who doesn’t love a sequin? While in the past, we’ve often packed our sparkliest looks away once the party season ends in January, this season sequins are glinting in the early sunlight of the spring months.
When it comes to sleeve size, more is definitely more this Spring. Playing with proportion, the statement sleeves turned heads on the runways this season, and it’s a look that’s easy to adapt at home, too – try a puffy sleeved crop-top for a little volume va-va-voom.
THE NEW FUTURISM
Many designers looked to the future for inspiration, embracing metallic fabrics and styles that seemed straight from science fiction. Covetable motorcycle jackets and embroidered dresses made 2016 feel a little more 2056.
They’ve long been a symbol of languid, loose feminine sexy sophistication: the slip dress can be minimal or opulent, and it makes for an ideal first layer. For contrast, wear them under mannish overcoats, or pair them with casual flat trainers.
This season is all about celebrating the romance of the past, with vintage-inspired looks that lend themselves well to a woman’s own personal style. For Spring, we saw an updated vintage look in the form of lurex knits, pussy-bow blouses and fluoro lace.
