1. CLEAN AND WHOLESOME
Our favourite trend for the season is the opposite of showy. Clean and minimalist denim, indigo blue or raw, was the catwalk star at everyone’s from Stella McCartney to Margiela and Michael Kors.
2. RIPPED AND READY
Distressed denim did, however, also have a moment on this season’s catwalk. London brand Ashish tore up big holes in their baggy dungarees, while Roberto Cavalli showed a more classic ripped look.
3. MAKE A STATEMENT
Sequins, patchwork, embellishments – some designers got really creative with the old denim fabric this season. Dolce & Gabbana went for the luxe look (of course) with a pair of embellished jeans, while Ashish and Jean-Paul Gaultier played with sequins and patches.
4. 70S FLARE
This season, we time-travelled all the way back to the 1970s. If you haven’t got any flared jeans in your wardrobe, it is definitely time to invest in a pair. The 70s trend is everywhere right now, and we especially love Gucci’s laced-up denim dress.
5. BE A FRAYED
Hemlines, or rather the lack of them, were an important detail this season. Hip London brand Marques’Almeida have been fraying the edges for seasons now, and this year, power houses like Burberry Prorsum (who did a frilly shearling lining on their denim jackets) and Saint Laurent embraced the raw, jagged look on both skirts and jackets.
